GIRL IN BLOOM

Meet Temilola

18 years old · Makoko, Lagos, Nigeria

Temilola grew up in Makoko — a waterside community on the edge of Lagos where her father tailors clothes and her mother rises before dawn to sell fish at the market. It is a community of resilience, of people who find a way. And Temilola is no exception.

When she joined Girl in Bloom, she didn’t just show up. She led. Temilola designed and executed a social impact program addressing period poverty in her own community — tackling one of the most overlooked barriers to girls’ education with the clarity and courage of someone twice her age.

Then her community was demolished.

Temilola and her family of seven now share space in a church, rebuilding quietly while the world moves on. And still, she shows up. She is still volunteering at a local nonprofit. She just completed her college entrance exam. And she knows what is waiting on the other side if she passes — four years of college funded by The Bloom Africa and a laptop to carry her there.

One exam. One opportunity. One girl whose success will change not just her own life but her family’s and her community’s trajectory forever.

The Bloom Africa sent Temilola an emergency grant to help stabilize her family during this season. Because we believe in her. And we are not letting go.

“She didn’t wait for the world to be ready for her. She got to work.”

Temilola’s future depends on the generosity of people like you.

Your gift funds her college education, her laptop, and the four years that will change everything.
