Kudirat Abiola

Kudirat Abiola is currently a second-year student at the London School of Economics (LSE), pursuing a degree in International Social and Public Policy with a specialisation in Development Studies.

Her dedication to social impact led to the establishment of It’s Never Your Fault, an NGO that spearheaded Nigeria’s largest women’s empowerment campaign, reaching over 400,000 people and earning collaborations with influential organisations such as CNN, BBC, the Malala Fund, Plan International, and the One Campaign.

Throughout her academic and professional journey, Kudirat has received numerous honours, including the Cambridge International ‘Top in Country Award’ for achieving the best result in Nigeria for the IGCSE Cambridge Global Perspectives in three exam series. Additionally, she ranked first in the Lagos State Public Speaking Competition, earning the 2020 Terry Maxwell Public Speaking award, and received the Council of British International Schools Student Achievement Award for her exemplary leadership and service activities during her secondary school years.

During her time at the African Leadership Academy, a pan-African school working to develop the next generation of African leaders, Kudirat Abiola not only excelled academically but also demonstrated her commitment to leadership and social impact.

At the age of 15, Kudirat Abiola represented Mexico in the Human Rights Committee at the COBIS Model United Nations Conference, where she passed a resolution in favour of enforcing internet censorship to reduce extrajudicial killings. She went on to serve as the Director of Administration and Finance for the African Leadership Academy Model African Union, the largest pan-African student-led conference, bringing students together from different parts of the world to represent African issues in committees of the AU and brainstorm resolutions to them. Subsequently, she served as the former USG of Delegate Affairs for LSEMUN 2023 and currently holds the esteemed position of Director General for LSEMUN 2024, where she is responsible for logistics and overseeing the finance and budget for the conference.

In addition to her academic and professional pursuits, Kudirat remains actively involved in community service, leading initiatives to fundraise for impactful causes such as internally displaced persons in Nigeria affected by the Boko Haram insurgencies. She has also interned at the Royal Courts of Justice, London, gaining valuable experience as a fundraising and legal intern.

She is currently serving as an investment banking trainee at William Blair, she has secured training opportunities at prestigious institutions such as JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs. She is an incoming intern within the public sector team of the global corporate banking division at JP Morgan, where she will be supporting the team on the Africa desk, initiating projects, and consulting for ministries of finance on the continent, as well as NGOs, and other stakeholders.
